General Information & Reminders

When you start preparing to leave your home country, the following information may be helpful:

Vaccination

No Vaccinations are compulsory for your entry into India, but we advise you take a booster dose of DTP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio), and get vaccinated against Typhoid and Hepatitis A and B.

Medicines

Don't carry medicines with you, unless you have to take something specific for a particular illness. All medicines are available here and they are probably much cheaper than in your country.

Money

You may want to change your currencies into Indian Rupees and there are different ways to do this:
  1. If you are travelling directly to the venue from the airport, we suggest that  you exchange only about 20 to 30 USD at the airport. We are arranging for a money changer to be present at all times at the venue for your convenience, where you will get a better exchange rate.
  2. Most ATMs accept International Bankcards, like Visa, Master, Maestro, Plus etc. The only disadvantage being, you may have to pay the associated bank charges.

General

  • If you play a musical instrument bring it along.
  • Remember to carry your recorders. It may come in handy.
  • If you have any battery operated gadgets, bring rechargeable batteries with you. It may be bit of a trouble to buy new ones as we will be staying in a resort. Please keep in mind that in India the voltage is 220V. You will have to bring the appropriate adaptors/transformers for electronics you bring with you.
  • A hat or an umbrella would be advisable to protect you from the scorching sun.
  • Also please carry sun lotions or sun-block creams of your choice.
  • A sleeping bag and mosquito net might come handy, especially if you plan to do any backpacking before or after the conference.

Clothes

  • Hyderabad is hot during the holiday seasons of April-May, so it is best to wear cool cotton clothes. You can also buy the colorful Indian clothes that are available in plenty here.
  • We suggest that you carry your swim-wear along with you as the resort has a lovely pool and a spa.
