Abhaya Waldorf School
Abhaya - A Waldorf School was founded in the year 2002 by parents and teachers who were looking for meaningful ways of educating Children. We started with 7 children in a small Kindergarten, in a beautiful green environment in the middle of the city! It was an Oasis in the desert of the noise and pollution of the city. The School has now moved to a place away from the noise and din since we needed our own space. The School is now built over two acres of Land, accommodating about 130 children, spread across Kg to grade 10. The environs of the school are peaceful and idyllic, best suited for Education.

The school has a committed group of adults, seriously interested in education and having the maturity it needs to offer their varied strengths to build the place.
The security and the trust that children feel in our midst is an inspiration for us continue to go this way. Despite the number which is growing gradually, we are proud to have old students leave school and carry the light of the education that they had received at School into the world they enter into. The students who have now moved into colleges show varied academic interests. They are well aware of their capacities and skills and are showing signs of being self-directed in their growth towards adulthood. Where we believe we are truly making a difference is when we see some of them committing time to activities that are socially productive and are of the nature of learning life skills. India is extreme in its focus on using education as a means to an end – the end usually being a secure financial, social future. Given this back ground, having students who think and show sensitivity to the world around them makes us feel immense gratitude towards Waldorf Education. |
